the nearest corresponding discourse in the uk is centered on the human rights act, which resulted in a lot of decisions against immigration policy. in particular the article 8 right to family life preventing people from being deported away from their family.

the brexit situation was really exceptional, and caused by an executive trying to govern without a working parliamentary majority.
